
ICC WORLD CUP 2011 is expected to deliver more in terms of sponsorship revenue and viewership than the 2033 and 2007 editions. On-ground sponsors are Reliance Communications, LG, Hero Honda, Reebok, The Emirates Group have total paid Rs 200 – 300 crore for in-stadia rights. On-air sponsorships are Sony, Hero Honda, Vodafone Essar Ltd at 40 crores each.
ESPN has signed 45 advertisers for on-air advertisers for on-air advertising while Doordarshan has 22 advertisers for its own. ZENITH OPTIMEDIA Pvt Ltd estimates that World Cup 2011 will at least generate a minimum of 800 crore, double of 2007. T20 World Cup 2007 had advertisement revenue of 300 crore.
Multimedia Media Ltd owned MAX that time in 2007 when Indian team was eliminated. At that time, they asked for compensation from ICC. Due to this, brand ICC got a major threat of getting sponsorship in the next edition.
But this edition, to the contrast is getting more than what was expected at 2007. This edition is getting an amount of 3.5 lac rupees for 10 sec of ad as compared to 1.75 lac in 2007 and 1 lac in 2003. What may be the reason behind these?????
Analysts have researched these possible findings:
- · Matches will be played in the subcontinent where people regard cricket as GOD.
- · No big time difference as matches being played in Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh will not make a difference of more than 35 minutes.
- · Indian matches are scheduled in the weekends.
- · India ranked 2 is set to stay at quarter final and even semi-final also.
- · Huge crowd would make the match more interesting.
- · Day night matches will make the game much more appealing to the masses.
